Zoltán Szalai

General Director of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium

Dr. Zoltán Szalai is a Germanist and cultural historian who has served as the Director General of Mathias Corvinus Collegium since 2009. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Mandiner, a prominent Hungarian news magazine, and a board member of Libri-Bookline Plc. He holds a Master's degree in German Language and Literature with a secondary school teaching qualification from Eötvös Loránd University, as well as a Master’s degree in Human Resource Counselling from the University of Pécs. He earned his Ph.D. in German Studies with summa cum laude from the ELTE Doctoral Program. Szalai expanded his academic knowledge through numerous scholarships at prestigious institutions such as Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Munich, London, and Leipzig. For more than a decade, he has played a key role in shaping Mathias Corvinus Collegium and has successfully led Mandiner through the evolving challenges of the modern media landscape.
