Prof. Dr. Peter Hoeres

Professor of Modern History at the University of Würzburg

Dr. Peter Hoeres has been a professor of modern history at the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg since 2013. His teaching and research areas include intellectual history, international history, and media history. He leads a project commissioned by the German Research Foundation (DFG) on the history of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), and in 2019, he published a book based on the project titled “A Newspaper for Germany: The History of FAZ from 1949 to the Present”. Hoeres also heads the historical section of the Görres Society and serves as a member of the academic advisory board of the Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung). Additionally, he is a member of the Historical Commission of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.
